Cooped up all winter and wanting to trim out those new model airplanes you’ve worked so hard to complete—or wanting to get all those planes back into the air that you repaired from last year’s crashes?
Join us for our First Annual HAFFA Spring Break Flying Event at Suman Saripalli’s Farm/Super Model Flying Site—Weather Permitting.
Scroll down this page for map to Suman’s Farm.
We are desiring favorable flying conditions (low wind speed 8 mph or under) so we can test fly and be able to trim airplanes.
Suman Saripalli, who has graciously offered the use of his Carmel Farm located in Perry, Kansas, will monitor the weather and will be responsible for a GO or a NO GO prior to the event at 5:00 pm on the Friday before the Saturday event.
If on May 12th—the wind and weather aren’t quite right—we will postpone the event to the following weekend (and so on), until Suman gives us the green light.
Event goers are encouraged to set up a personal contact with Suman (either text, email or phone #) so he can get the word out to all those interested in going to the event. Suman can be reached at 785-979-1116. We will also post a GO or NO GO on this page for all to see.
So as a result please “Pencil In” these May dates as follows:
Open Hanger Days Saturday May 5th, 2018
————> Spring Break Flying Event Saturday May 12th, 2018
(If postponed could land on any of these dates)
Saturday May 19th, 2018
Saturday May 26th, 2018
This event is open to everyone who wants to attend. You do not have to be a member of HAFFA.
Our friends with the members of the Topeka Controline Association, and MECA (Model Engine Collectors) are encouraged to attend.
Also members of our Sister Organization—the
Wichita Historic Aircraft Modelers (WHAM).. are encouraged to attend as well.
Last year’s fall HAFFA Picnic was a success at Suman’s farm which has a nice covered shelter with his and her bathrooms and tables for meals.
This spring’s event will be designed to encourage new comers to the hobby. Bring your project for an impromptu build session with experienced builders to help you get started. Also planned for the day is help for anyone needing to “trim” their free flight model airplane to safely fly right.
Suman Sarapalli’s Carmel Farm is located near Perry, Kansas. This is about 20 minutes northwest of Lawrence, Kansas, and an easy ride from Interstate 70 (Kansas Turnpike).
